Carbs before bed = Better Sleep?
A point i wanted to address after responding to a post yesterday will help educate the members in this group.
Late night eating is bad, You can not eat carbs before bed, or carbs after X hour is bad are all Myths. Do not buy into that broscience. There is plenty of evidence, research, and published studies to back that.
The key fact in the 24 hour period is the following:
Are you getting at least 1g/lb of protein (if you weigh 160 pounds that means 160g)
Are you meeting at least 20% Fat in your daily diet (so 2000 calories x .2 = 400 / 9 = 44g ~45g)
Are you meeting proper Fiber intake? around 30-40g daily
Fill the rest of your calories with carbs.
how you wish to allot those calories is PERSONAL PREFERENCE. Below is some research, links, and articles to show you that carbs at night can :
- Aid Fatloss
- Aid Seretonin levels
- Improve Cognitive Function (Thinking)
- Aid Deeper Sleep
Well a new study has demonstrated that subjects eating most of their carbs at dinner actually lost MORE bodyfat than subjects who ate them earlier in the day! Broscience BUSTED!
You the man @TheSolution
Besides, carbs are always better after dark anyway.
Mediocre bodybuilder, decent powerlifter, flexible dieter with the lifetime goal of filling scrub sleeves.
Do not thank me. Thank research. There is plenty of things out there that people may think are wrong. Not always the case. We are humans, we are always learning from our mistakes and the dogma we do read in magazines.
