What do you think of the NEW Quest Bars???
As you all know, Quest Bars have gone through quite a transformation over the past year. When the brand learned that IMO (the fiber in most protein bars) spiked insulin, thus causing the body to store nutrients, they decided to switch to a corn starch as their fiber. This made complete sense for their business model and their mission statement...BUT it didn't do too well for the "experience" of the product. The bars turned hard and tasted bland.
Fast forward 3 months ago, they re-formulated again with a better corn starch fiber and the bars began to taste amazing, stayed soft, and did not spike insulin like IMOs.
What do you guys think of the new formula? New flavors - Blueberry Muffin and Oatmeal Chocolate Chip???
What is an IMO - Isomalto-Oligosaccharide is a naturally occurring plant-based dietary fiber. It is prebiotic, soluble, and low-glycemic.
@Mike-Yewdell After ordering a box of blueberry muffin and having very high expectations for this flavor, I can honestly say it's easily one of my favorites. The texture, the flavor, everything about it is on point. If you put it in the microwave for a few second to warm it up, it tastes even more like a fresh warm blueberry muffin. I can't wait to try the oatmeal chocolate chip flavor, hopefully it's just as good!
@Mike-Yewdell My FAVORITE Quest Bar flavors out there! Try them microwaved for 10 seconds and it tastes like a warm muffin or oatmeal cookie. The Oatmeal is a combo of cinnamon + cookie dough - so many chunks and such a great flavor!
@Mike-Yewdell I honestly didn't notice too much of a difference of the new formula at first. I still love quest bars just not crazy that they are using corn starch as their fiber but they are still a pretty clean protein bar that tastes amazing. As for the new bars, Blueberry Muffin is now one of my top picks! It is so good they really did create an awesome/unique protein bar flavor. The oatmeal CC is good. The first one I had the cinnamon over powered the flavor but when I had another one recently it was just right. It is like their CC cookie dough bar with cinnamon in my opinion. It is still very good though.
Haven't had the chance to try them, but excited to.
I haven't tried the blueberry muffin ones yet but the oatmeal chocolate chip ones are soooooo good especially heated up
I absolutely love the new Quest Bar formula. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough has been (and still is) my favorite flavor. Heat it up in the microwave for a few seconds and it's even better! Tastes just like a gooey, underbaked cookie. I can't wait to try the Blueberry Muffin flavor!

Usually I'm not a fan of protein bars because once they get hard my jaw locks up. But I don't really have that problem with the new formula. And it tastes amazing compared to the majority of protein bars.

Haven't tried the new formula or the new flavor out just yet. But quest bars to me have always been pretty good since they have good protein in them.
I love them!! Blueberry muffin is my new favorite flavor by far and I'm also a big fan of the oatmeal chocolate chip. I also got to try the mocha chocolate chip which they haven't released yet and it's amazing so I'm definitely looking forward to being able to get more of those!
Blueberry muffin is 👌👌👌👌👌👌
Third time is definitely a charm in this case. Quest hit the nail on the head. Since the beginning of the brand I knew that they had a good product and with redo after redo, I knew that they would eventually crack the code and create the perfect Quest bar.
The original Quest bar was delicious, but definitely wasn't the best nutritionally, as Mike mentioned. They also needed microwaved slightly in my opinion to make the texture easier on the jaw. I personally could eat them normally with no problems, but the best texture was achieved by microwaving. The second recipe may have been better nutritionally but I agree with Mike, they slacked on the flavor. Finally though, we have a recipe that has a softer but still solid bar consistency, great flavors, best nutritional value to date and still have all the chunk porn that we all know and love.
When I first got the opportunity to try the new Quest, I was more excited for the flavors themselves rather than the recipe. The recipe was just an added bonus in my opinion. As soon as I got my Quest package, I tore open the box and had to do eeny-meeny-miney-mo on which to try first. It ended up being the Oatmeal Chocolate Chip and as soon as I took a bite, I literally said (with my mouth full) "OH MY GOD. ITS LITERALLY AN OATMEAL COOKIE." In my opinion, this flavor was spot on. Tasted just like an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie. I really was able to decipher the oat flavor, then the obvious chocolate chips. The blueberry muffin taste test came the following day. I ripped it open at work, tried it and fell in love. I literally had a hard time deciding which I liked more, because both tasted like copycat recipes of the tasty treats they're named after, but the blueberry muffin took the top spot in my heart. DELICIOUS.
As I said before, this recipe is all-around AMAZING and I truly don't think Quest needs to change anything else. If they changed anything else or strayed away from the texture any more than they have, it wouldn't even seem like a Quest bar anymore. I think they've finally found the answer they've been looking for.
I also tried the rocky road flavor that Quest was throwing around and it was okay, but didn't hold a candle to the other two therefore, I think that's the main reason it wasn't released for public purchase. The texture on that one also seemed slightly tougher. Now, all I can do is patiently wait to get my hands (and tastebuds) on the new mocha flavor. I. CAN'T. WAIT. I'm a coffee FREAK so I am ecstatic about this. Can't wait to review it for everyone!
The blueberry muffin is delicious!!
@Mike-Yewdell I find the two most recent flavors, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip & Blueberry Muffin, to be really enjoyable. I'm a fan of the texture profile created by the chunks which make them far better than some previous chewy formulas. I have yet to try them warm as several others have suggested so really looking forward to that!
